Post-Jam update just dropped!

Here’s a brief summary of all the changes:

  • Performance has been greatly improved on lower-end PCs
    • Using a resolution scale of 0.35 (which is now the default value) I managed to get roughly 30 FPS on an old laptop with an Intel HD 530 integrated GPU.
    • No more slow-motion if you’re playing at below 60 FPS!
  • Added a settings menu

  • Wall jumping has been partially reworked
    • Move towards an obstacle while in midair and hold down the Jump button to latch onto it. Within one second, release the button to jump off of the obstacle in the direction you want, otherwise you will fall and will not be able to perform more wall jumps until reset.
    • You can still use the legacy system by enabling it from the settings menu.

  • Slightly tweaked some platforming sections to make them a bit more intuitive to traverse.
  • Moved two save points to more reasonable locations.
  • Better gamepad support when navigating menus and pop-ups (still not perfect though)
  • Restored some retro shaders that didn’t make it into the jam build. Now the game looks worse than ever.
  • You can now cancel your punches into a dash or a jump.
  • Camera has been generally improved. Clipping through walls should now happen much more rarely and locking on enemies will now make the camera zoom out depending on how far you are from the enemy.
  • So many bug fixes and small improvements that I can’t even remember.

Yes, combat still sucks, but that’s not gonna be fixed until I pick this game up again at some point in the future.

See you next month for MVM23!

Nice update 👍

The game crashed as soon as I tried to wall jump. I had the legacy wall jump enabled, but I didn't try without it.

Thank you for reporting this, I’m going to upload an hotfix soon!
